More about how this site is financed
This website works a little differently to many others.
You won’t find any annoying pop up ads here, and I don’t allow advertising (in other words, companies can’t pay to appear on the site). There’s also no subscription fee for the content, so you can access everything completely free of charge.
Yet this website does cost money to run. I’m a self employed writer, but my time spent writing and developing this site cannot be charged. Plus there are costs for things like domain names and web hosting.
Free content and outdoor inspiration
Anything I write for this website is published because I genuinely believe it’s helpful information, or inspiring content.
I’ve always wanted to keep the website looking clean. I detest sites full of pop up ads that stop you from being able to read the information you clicked to find. That’s why I made a decision right from the beginning not to include advertising on the site, even though it’s often a major revenue stream for many operating this kind of website.
I love sharing outdoor adventure, and that’s why this website exists. I also truly believe that adventure can be found right on your doorstep. You don’t need to have tons of money to enjoy the great outdoors.
By offering free content, more people can find inspiration for their own outdoor adventures.
So how is the Outdoor Girl website financed?
Companies cannot pay to be featured on this site.
Instead, from time to time, the blog posts and pages may contain affiliate links. This means if you decide to make a purchase by clicking on one of these links I may get compensated/earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
All content on this site, including advice for educational purposes and any opinions I express on products, services, companies, is not influenced in any way by advertisers or affiliate partnerships.
The integrity of the content on this website is in no way compromised by such financial relationships.
I only form partnerships with products, services, and companies that I believe will provide value to my readers. I only share affiliate links for products, services, and companies that I have personally used / tested, or thoroughly researched and vetted, and consider to be of the highest quality standard.
Please note that it remains your personal responsibility to conduct your own investigation to determine whether to purchase an affiliate product or service. You will not rely solely on any recommendation, reference, or information provided by me and I cannot be held liable or responsible for any damages resulting from your purchase.
As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
Doesn’t this compromise the information on the site?
My primary aim for this website is to share useful and inspiring content.
If, after writing a blog post, I can find an affiliate link or get the reader a great deal, I’ll add it in. If there’s no paying link, nothing changes - the link is simply non-affiliated. In other words, non-paying.
In fact, most of the links on this website are non-paying links.
I want you to know when links are affiliate links
I believe in being completely transparent. So, unlike many sites using affiliate links, I am always open about using them.
To take it a step further, for blog posts published from 2025, I’m including an * after every affiliate link.
This is so you know which links contribute to paying for this site, and which don’t, so you can make your own decisions. I hope you’ll choose the ones that help support my site but for every * link, I’ll also include an unaffiliated version at the bottom of the page.
